Corporate Developments

American Express has acquired US-based Sometrics, a provider of virtual currency platform and in-game payments, for $30 million. Sometrics will be placed within the Enterprise Growth Group, a division that is responsible for alternative mobile and online payment services, enabling AMEX to capitalize on Sometrics’ software development capabilities.

Thomson Reuters will be selling its trade and risk division to Vista Equity Partners, a private equity fund. This comes as a result of an organizational shakeup at Thomson Reuters’ global markets division.

Reed Elsevier, a publishing house, will be purchasing US-based Accuity, a provider of reference data services for financial institutions, for $343 million. Accuity will be housed within Reed Business Information, allowing Reed Elsevier to consolidate Accuity’s data management capabilities across its business divisions.

Core Banking

MoneYou, a German-based online subsidiary of ABN Amro Bank, has deployed Callataÿ & Wouters’ Thaler core banking solution to provide a software platform for the bank’s transactions.

TCS, a provider of IT services, has unveiled TCS BANCS Core Banking Release 12.0, the latest version of its core banking solution which allows for a single installation of the system to support many branches, provides convenient exit points and features an IFRS reporting engine.
