Corporate Development

Western Union has acquired cross-border payments service provider Travelex Global Business Payments in France after obtaining regulatory and licensing approval, with plans to expand into the French market.

Payment processor Mercury Payment Systems has acquired Sundrop Mobile and will provide a mobile loyalty program integrated with payment processing upon completion of the merger of Sundrop’s operations and technology.

IBM has completed the acquisition of Varicent Software, a provider of analytics software for compensation and sales performance management, as part of its strategy to expand the company’s business analytics and optimisation software and services capabilities.

Core Banking

BankDhofar has named Path Solutions as its core banking system provider and will employ the IMAL system, the first certified core banking system for the bank’s Islamic banking operations.

Qatar National Bank (QNB) has signed an agreement with TSYS to deploy PRIME 4, TSYS’ latest card and merchant management solution. PRIME 4 will enable QNB to upgrade its card and merchant management solution for multiple countries, languages and currencies on a multi-institutional platform to achieve the bank’s overseas expansion policy.
